Baseball Game Preview: Teurlings Catholic Rebels vs. Northwood Falcons

The Teurlings Catholic Rebels will take on the Northwood Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Teurlings Catholic 2.3, Northwood 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Teurlings Catholic is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Central just ended the team's 14-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 4-3.

Ryan Berard was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaden Chavis, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Northwood came tearing into Monday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Falcons have won 20 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Northwood's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 31-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Teurlings Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 27-4.
