Recap: Newport Grizzlies vs. Bonners Ferry Badgers
This season hasn't been kind to the Newport Grizzlies, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 53-15 loss at the hands of Bonners Ferry. Newport was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-10.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bonners Ferry to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taren Bateman, who scored 19 points along with five steals. Bateman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Markynn Pluid, who scored nine points along with 16 rebounds and three steals.
Newport's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Bonners Ferry, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Newport will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Lakeside at 7:15 p.m. Lakeside will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Bonners Ferry, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakeside at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th.
