Softball Recap: Hoover Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Hoover owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They put the hurt on the South Charleston Black Eagles with a sharp 8-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly eight runs.

Hannah Shamblin was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bella Haas was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Kyleigh Elmore, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Hoover always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hoover is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Charleston, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Hoover will take on Ripley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for South Charleston, they will welcome Elk Valley Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
