Basketball Recap: Kynlee Dextraze's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Rowan over Northwest Cabarrus

South Rowan lost against Northwest Cabarrus back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The South Rowan Raiders fell to the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans 40-34. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while the Trojans are ranked 130th).

South Rowan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kynlee Dextraze, who posted eight points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals. Dextraze has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Avery Fisher was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, South Rowan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

South Rowan's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

South Rowan will welcome Central Cabarrus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake Norman Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lake Norman Charter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.
