Basketball Recap: First Baptist Academy Takes a Loss

First Baptist Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 58-44 fall against the Mt. Olive Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against First Baptist Academy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-48 back in December of 2024.

Mt. Olive's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from David Schoen, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points and eight boards. Schoen has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Bywater, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

First Baptist Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Mt. Olive, their victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Baptist Academy will face off against Westfair Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westfair Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Mt. Olive, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Litchfield at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
