Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Alamance Eagles vs. Orange Panthers

Eastern Alamance is 0-10 against Orange since April of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Eagles will welcome the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Eastern Alamance is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Bethany Community 16-2 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Orange waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory. That 21-run margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Orange got a great performance from Ryan Sawyer as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Sawyer a new career-high.

At the plate, Kayden Bradsher and Oliver Van Tiem did most of the damage at the plate: Bradsher got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Van Tiem went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Van Tiem a new career-high. Gary Miller was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Orange kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.

Orange's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Eastern Alamance, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
