League recap: Rankin races to league-leading run for Mooresville

Akease Rankin of Mooresville ran for the longest rushing play in 4A/3A Conference 3 this season against North Iredell last week. Rankin ran for 90 yards on the play and finished with 244 on the day as his team defeated the Raiders.

Fans got a thrill when TRAVIS RAMSEUR and Lawson Bowman connected against Lake Norman. The connection went for 81 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.

Statesville's dynamic duo of RAMSEUR and BREVIN RENWICK proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. RAMSEUR threw for 375 yards and 3 touchdowns and RENWICK had 135 yards receiving. JAKE BOULWARE helped Statesville's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 95 yards.

He was 23-30 with 0 interceptions.

Josh Ladowski was a passing and rushing force as Lake Norman topped the Greyhounds. He completed 19 passes for 351 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 253 yards. Ladowski's key target this week was Corey Joyner, who caught 6 passes for 124 yards.

Ladowski was a force in the backfield as Rob McNeely's team beat Statesville.

Lake Norman's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ladowski has thrown for 1,529 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Joyner has 40 catches for 904 yards. Ladowski also leads the league in rushing with 994 yards.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Wildcats' Joyner goes up against South Iredell's Cameron Witherspoon.

Joyner of the Lake Norman's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 96 receiving yards in this week's game against the Vikings to get there. He has recorded 40 catches for 904 yards this year.

Ladowski of the the Wildcats is only 6 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Ladowski has rushed for 994 yards on 180 carries so far this year.

Next week's game between Lake Norman and Scott Miller's team will feature an aerial matchup as Ladowski tests his arm against Witherspoon's defensive ability.

One of 4A/3A Conference 3's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Wildcats and the Vikings face off next week.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when South Iredell takes on Lake Norman. The Vikings are in first place, while the Wildcats are in fourth place.

The league will see a high scoring game when South Iredell and Lake Norman face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Vikings comes in having scored 267 this season, while the Wildcats have scored 239. South Iredell scored 70 points last week as it defeated West Iredell.

The Vikings extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Warriors, 70-22. The win marks sixth in a row for the South Iredell.
