Soccer Game Preview: Mount Morris vs. Avon

The Mount Morris Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Avon Braves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Morris' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Mount Morris fell victim to Andover and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Avon came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Given Avon's advantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Wayland-Cohocton are ranked 354th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Avon's victory bumped their record up to 9-5-2. As for Mount Morris, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

Mount Morris came up short against Avon when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
