Softball Recap: Heritage Hills Patriots vs. Tecumseh Braves
Heritage Hills fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Tecumseh on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Braves by a score of 2-1. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Mia Kiegel was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 7.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Kiegel wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mayci Litherland, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Heritage Hills' loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Tecumseh, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-2.
Coming up, Heritage Hills will look to defend their home field on Friday against Evansville Harrison at 5:00 p.m. As for Tecumseh, they will venture away from home to face off against Castle at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight.
