Basketball Recap: Hertford County Drops Season-High Score on Manteo

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hertford County). They blew past the Manteo Redskins 85-46 on Friday. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Redskins, too.

Hertford County was led to victory by Rimiez Williams and Shimere Garris. Williams went 13 of 21 en route to 30 points in addition to seven steals and five assists, while Garris dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Williams' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Remelo Roberston was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Hertford County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Redskins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zay Banks, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Granitzki, who put up 11 points.

The win made it two in a row for Hertford County and bumps their season record up to 4-8. As for Manteo, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Holmes the next time they take the court. Manteo will head out to face Holmes at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Hertford County will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
