For the second straight game, Northeastern Clinton will face off against Saranac. The Cougars will take on the Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Northeastern Clinton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Northeastern Clinton will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Saranac, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Chiefs on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Jacob Perkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Northeastern Clinton let Robert McIntyre and Cobe Lafountain run wild. McIntyre went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Lafountain got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. What's more, Lafountain posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. Evias Carpenter also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Northeastern Clinton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Saranac's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-5. As for Northeastern Clinton, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Northeastern Clinton's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game.
