Volleyball Recap: Conneaut Comes Up Short

Conneaut was the 3-1 winner over Northwestern when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Wildcats on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Spartans have suffered against the Wildcats since September 3, 2019.

Conneaut was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Northwestern work for it, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-14, 26-24.

Bailey Carlson paced Conneaut's offense, picking up five kills. Carlson got some help from Lynn Muha and her 15 assists. Lillian Ensman controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Conneaut's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Northwestern, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Conneaut will welcome St. John at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northwestern, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Harbor Creek at 7:15 p.m. on September 8.
