Softball Game Preview: Jennings County Panthers vs. Greensburg Pirates

Jennings County is 7-1 against Greensburg since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Panthers will head out to challenge the Pirates at 11:00 a.m. Jennings County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Jennings County turned things around against Brownstown Central on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Braves.

Arian Day made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Byford, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Maycie Ward, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Greensburg entered their tilt with Batesville on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Bulldogs. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Pirates this season.

Jennings County's record now sits at 5-6. As for Greensburg, their record is now 5-1.
