Football Recap: Gray-New Gloucester Takes a Loss

Gray-New Gloucester extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-3. They were beaten by the Yarmouth Clippers 50-18. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 36-14 to the Clippers when the teams met back in September of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Yarmouth, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. That looming 50-18 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Yarmouth's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ignatius (Iggy) McGrath led the charge by throwing for 240 yards and six touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. (Iggy) McGrath is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Another pass catcher making a difference was Adam Pelotte, who picked up 68 receiving yards and four TDs.

Coming up, Gray-New Gloucester will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Camden Hills at 6:00 p.m. As for Yarmouth, they are taking a road trip to challenge Traip at 6:30 p.m. on the 11th. The Clippers will be up against the Rangers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
