Basketball Game Preview: Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri Crusaders vs. Midland Adventist Academy Mustangs

The Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri Crusaders will square off against the Midland Adventist Academy Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri comes in on three and Midland Adventist Academy on four.

Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri is headed into the match having just posted their biggest win since December 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 40-9 victory over Frontier STEM. The team accrued 32 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.

Kate Corley was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri's points. Sophi Burkhart was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Midland Adventist Academy). They claimed a resounding 51-9 victory over The Daniel Academy. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 239th in Kansas, while the Lions are ranked 504th in Missouri), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Midland Adventist Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri strolled past Midland Adventist Academy in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 47-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
