Baseball Recap: Vancleave Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Vancleave won the last time they faced St. Stanislaus and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Vancleave Bulldogs walked away with a 5-1 victory over the St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly four runs.

Max Bates made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bates was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he also posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Bates wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tony Craven, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Craven a new career-high in hits (two).

Vancleave pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for St. Stanislaus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Vancleave is taking a road trip to take on St. Martin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games St. Martin has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for St. Stanislaus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against D'Iberville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Stanislaus is facing D'Iberville at the right time seeing as D'Iberville is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
