Basketball Recap: Oelrichs Comes Up Short

Oelrichs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Hay Springs Hawks, falling 82-15. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

It was another big night for Dylan Young, who went 9 for 12 en route to 21 points in addition to five assists and three steals for Hay Springs. Young's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Heidyn Johnson was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

Oelrichs' loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Hay Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Sioux County the next time they take the court. Hay Springs will host Sioux County on Thursday, while Oelrichs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th.
