Softball Recap: Boyd Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Boyd couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (2-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Their defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Abby Atkinson put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 6.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Boyd's loss dropped their record down to 28-5-2. As for S & S Consolidated, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-1.

While Boyd had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
