Football Game Preview: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Unatego/Franklin

The Eldred Yellowjackets will take on Unatego/Franklin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Eldred sitting on five straight wins and Unatego/Franklin on six.

Eldred is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New York's top teams: Sullivan West, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Eldred was ranked 15th). The Yellowjackets strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 76-60. The Yellowjackets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Eldred's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Ranaudo, who rushed for 216 yards on only 12 carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and three scores. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Ranaudo a new career-high. Koen McGill was another key player, rushing for 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Eldred was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 404 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 174 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Eldred's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. In that department, Orion Schneider was the leader with two sacks.

Meanwhile, Unatego/Franklin made easy work of Moravia on Friday and carried off a 40-20 win. The result was nothing new for Unatego/Franklin, who have now won seven contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Unatego/Franklin's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Eldred, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
