Softball Recap: Water Canyon Sets Scoring Season-High Against El Capitan

Water Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 32nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 24-8 to the El Capitan Eagles. On the bright side, the eight- run effort marked the Wildcats' highest-scoring match to date.

Jaklyn Dutson was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Sundae Holm was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Water Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for El Capitan, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-8-1.

Looking ahead, Water Canyon will be playing in front of their home fans against Parowan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Capitan, they are taking a road trip to square off against Page at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sand Devils have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
