Football Game Preview: Woodson Cavaliers vs. Lake Braddock Bruins + How To Watch

Woodson hasn't had much luck against Lake Braddock recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cavaliers will square off against the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. Woodson has given up an average of 28.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Woodson lost to West Springfield at home by a 41-23 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Spartans are ranked 79th).

Meanwhile, Lake Braddock put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 29-23 W against Westfield. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lake Braddock's win came from a few key players Woodson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Payton Holmes, who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of scores. He is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Tyrone Jackson was another key player, throwing for 215 yards and two touchdowns.

Lake Braddock's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Woodson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Woodson was dealt a bruising 55-14 loss at the hands of Lake Braddock in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cavaliers were down 41-7.
