Basketball Game Preview: Nogales Nobles vs. Baldwin Park Braves

The Nogales Nobles will head out to face off against the Baldwin Park Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nogales is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Nogales had to suffer through a 84-40 loss at the hands of Bishop Amat. While losing is never fun, the Nobles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1211th, while the Lancers are ranked 147th).

Meanwhile, Baldwin Park took a blow against Sierra Vista on Thursday, falling 76-44. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Dons recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Nogales will need focus on slowing down Andy Flores, one of several Baldwin Park players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 for 13 en route to 23 points and four steals. Flores is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rafael Godinez, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points.

Nogales' loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Baldwin Park, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10.

Nogales was able to grind out a solid victory over Baldwin Park in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 45-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nogales since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
