Basketball Game Preview: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Inglemoor Vikings

The Mercer Island Islanders will face off against the Inglemoor Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Mercer Island lost 74-52 to Bothell on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Cougars are ranked 21st).

Meanwhile, Inglemoor came up short against Bellevue on Saturday and fell 51-44. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now lost three in a row.

Mercer Island has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Inglemoor, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Mercer Island beat Inglemoor 58-51 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does Mercer Island have another victory up their sleeve, or will Inglemoor turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
