Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pierce County). In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 60-59 victory over the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Yellowjackets two weeks ago, they had to take a 65-54 loss.

When it comes to explaining why Jeff Davis lost on Tuesday, don't look at Malachi Smith. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points and four steals. James Benjamin was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Pierce County's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Jeff Davis, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Pierce County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-52 defeat against Brantley County on the 20th. As for Jeff Davis, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Berrien at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. One thing working in Jeff Davis' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
