Baseball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for Lamar

Lamar hadn't done well against Simpson Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Raiders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 5-0 shutout. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

The result came thanks to Sullivan Reed's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jackson Whitcomb was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ty Wiggins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Lamar pushed their record up to 20-6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Simpson Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamar will take on Park Place Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders are facing the Crusaders at the right time seeing as the Crusaders are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Simpson Academy, they will face off against Wayne Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
