Softball Game Preview: Bishop Brady Giants vs. Hopkinton Hawks

For the second straight game, Bishop Brady will face off against Hopkinton. The Giants will welcome the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Brady will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Bishop Brady made easy work of Hopkinton and carried off a 17-3 win. Considering the Giants have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Payton Bryson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Bishop Brady got a massive performance out of Maryn Sherman, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Sherman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalie Sherman, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Bishop Brady kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Bishop Brady pushed their record up to 11-2-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Hopkinton, they now have a losing record of 4-5-1.
