Softball Recap: Seven Straight Home Wins for Don Lugo

Don Lugo came out on top against Chaffey on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Conquistadores blew past the Tigers 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Conquistadores, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Camila Franco and Angeline Canez did most of the damage at the plate: Franco went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs, while Canez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Franco has posted since back in March. Alyssa Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Don Lugo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaffey only posted a batting average of .263.

Don Lugo's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Chaffey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9-1 record this season.

Don Lugo will have a chance to go back-to-back against Chaffey: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
