Football Recap: Red Oak Hawks vs. Seguin Cougars
Red Oak lost a close one when they played last Friday but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on Thursday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by the Seguin Cougars 50-14. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Despite the loss, Red Oak had strong showings from Kingston Mcadams, who gained 104 total yards and a touchdown, and Billy Middleton, who threw for 150 yards and a touchdown. Taz Williams Jr also played a phenomenal game despite the final result: he picked up 97 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seguin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chevy Andrews, who threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Careterrious Brown was another key player, picking up 187 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Red Oak's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2. As for Seguin, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
Red Oak will square off against Cedar Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Seguin, they will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Burleson at 7:00 p.m.
