Softball Game Preview: Old Fort Stockaders vs. New Riegel Blue Jackets

Old Fort is 2-8 against New Riegel since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Stockaders will welcome the Blue Jackets at 5:00 p.m. Old Fort has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Old Fort is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against Lakota, falling 16-9.

Abbi Ward made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ellie Skeels, who went 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but New Riegel ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Calvert 4-3. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Jackets as they're now sitting on six straight.

New Riegel pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Old Fort, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
