Basketball Recap: International Community Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 28-28 at halftime, International Community was not quite Carolina Day's equal in the second half on Thursday. They took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carolina Day Wildcats. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, International Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Paxton Boaz dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 assists. Those 11 assists gave Boaz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Farrell, who went 7 of 12 en route to 15 points.

Carolina Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden McAfee led the charge by going 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darian Durant-Maldonado, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.

International Community's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Carolina Day, their record now sits at 5-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. International Community will take on Lake Mary Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carolina Day, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Carolina Day Wildcats duke it out with the Asheville Christian Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
