Softball Recap: Crestview Rebels vs. Garfield G-Men
Crestview extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 10-7-1 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Garfield G-Men. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rebels of the 5-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
Lainey Milhoan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenna Figley, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
As for Garfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
On Garfield's side, Juliana Genovese made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Genovese has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Diamond Dyson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Olivia Zicari was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
While Crestview had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
