Volleyball Preview: Highland Hawks vs. Westwood Warriors

Highland has been on the road for eight straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will host the Westwood Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Highland will be strutting in after a win while Westwood will be coming in after a loss.

Last Thursday, Highland beat Williams Field 3-1.

Highland was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 22-25, 25-16, 27-25.

Alyx Daugherty went supernova for Highland, getting 21 digs and two aces. Daugherty is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Highland was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're ace total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Westwood came up short against Red Mountain on Wednesday and fell 3-1. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mountain Lions 25-22 in the first set.

Westwood started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-12.

Highland's victory bumped their record up to 26-8. As for Westwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
