After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Charles, Westlake was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They snuck past the Thomas Stone Cougars with a 38-34 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 38-37 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Thomas Stone saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Malaiyah Johnson posted eight points and 12 rebounds. Johnson has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played.

Westlake's record now sits at 7-13. As for Thomas Stone, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15.

Looking ahead, Westlake will challenge Patuxent at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Westlake is facing Patuxent at the right time seeing as Patuxent is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Thomas Stone, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-44 loss against Glen Burnie on the 22nd.
