After flying high against Canterbury last Thursday, Gulf Coast came back down to earth. The Sharks lost 3-0 to the IMG Academy Royal Ascenders on Wednesday. The Sharks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Gulf Coast took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-14, 25-15.

Adryel Solar paced Gulf Coast's offense, picking up seven kills. Solar got some help from Vanessa Lange and her 15 assists. Cassandra Maldonado and Andreya Karakosta kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Among those leading the charge was Daniela Matznick, who had 23 digs. That's the most digs she has posted since back in August.

Gulf Coast's loss dropped their record down to 19-5. As for IMG Academy Royal, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-1.

Gulf Coast wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Naples on the 14th. As for IMG Academy Royal, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Northside Christian on the 9th.
