League recap: Otsego's Smoyer delivers best pitching performance from past week

Northern Buckeye league recap: 5/22/13

Ryan Smoyer was the best pitcher in Northern Buckeye this week, leading Otsego. Over the past week, he had one win and 17 Ks.

Smoyer was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .364 average, one home run and seven RBIs. The Knights went 3-1.

Otsego's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 26 hits and ten walks, both of which led the league.

Hunter Donald and Smoyer hit home runs this week.

With eight more hits this week, the Knights' Nate Hackworth brought his league-leading hits total to 39 for the year.



Smoyer drove in six runners on Wednesday in Otsego's 13-3 victory over Fostoria. He went 3-for-4 and scored three runs.

The Knights' Smoyer struck out 12 Elmwood hitters en route to a 3-1 victory on May 21. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed one run on five hits.
