Volleyball Recap: John Curtis Christian Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Haynes Academy

John Curtis Christian faced Haynes Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Patriots came up short against Haynes Academy, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with Haynes Academy: they've now lost four in a row.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Haynes Academy scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-22, 25-22.

Makayla Morter paced John Curtis Christian's offense, picking up 12 kills. Morter got some help from Alyzia Cola- Grayson and her 23 assists.

Haynes Academy found their leader in sophomore London Granados, who had eight digs, seven kills, and one block.

John Curtis Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 24-10. As for Haynes Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-5.

Looking ahead, John Curtis Christian will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Thomas Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. As for Haynes Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Abramson on the 25th.
