Baseball Recap: Thomas Jefferson Takes a Loss

Thomas Jefferson extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-11 in the process. They came up short against the George Washington Patriots, falling 12-3. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Shepard Schneider made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Jesus Flores-Sanchez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for George Washington, the victory got them back to even at 6-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

On George Washington's side, Luke Wiederholt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Wiederholt also tossed a walk, which is notable because George Washington is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-4 otherwise. Wiederholt was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Adrian Reed was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matt Holliger, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
