Soccer Game Preview: Pioneer vs. Westmont

The Pioneer Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Westmont Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Pioneer's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Branham. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Mustangs were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, on FridayLeigh kept up with Westmont until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. Westmont put the hurt on Leigh with a sharp 6-3 win. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Westmont pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. As for Pioneer, the win got them back to even at 5-5-1.

Pioneer suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Westmont in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Pioneer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
