After a string of three wins, Charlotte Elite Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Sunday. They took a 77-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Hope Academy National Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Soldiers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 281st in North Carolina, while the Tigers are ranked 87th in Maryland).

It was another big night for Haki Muhammed II, who went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 42 points and five boards for New Hope Academy National. That makes it four consecutive games in which Muhammed II has scored at least a third of New Hope Academy National's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isrial Braxton, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Charlotte Elite Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for New Hope Academy National, their record is now 16-25.
