Baseball Recap: Newman Smith Comes Up Short

Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-1 to the Reedy Lions, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 9-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Newman Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12-2. As for Reedy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

While Newman Smith had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
