Baseball Recap: Cane Bay Gets the Win

While Cane Bay didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Colleton County Cougars on Wednesday. The Cobras haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Cayden Haught made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Haught was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Mitchell Bennett was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2. Bennett is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Tre Lawrence, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Cane Bay's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Colleton County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3-2 record this season.

Cane Bay will host Greeneville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greeneville will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Cane Bay surely won't give up without a fight. As for Colleton County, they will venture away from home to face off against Barnwell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Barnwell's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Colleton County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
