Basketball Recap: Gibsonburg Skates Past St. Joseph Central Catholic with Ease

Gibsonburg was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against St. Joseph Central Catholic on Tuesday. The Gibsonburg Golden Bears claimed a resounding 75-27 victory over the St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks. The contest marked the Golden Bears' most dominant win of the season so far.

Reece Walby was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024. Aiden Morant was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and four steals.

Gibsonburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Gibsonburg's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Gibsonburg will welcome St. Mary Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, they will head out to square off against Hopewell-Loudon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph Central Catholic is facing Hopewell-Loudon at the right time seeing as Hopewell-Loudon is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
