Basketball Recap: Lucerne Valley Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Academy of Careers & Exploration, Lucerne Valley was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets 39-37.

Among those leading the charge was Anthony Navarro, who posted 14 points along with five boards and four steals. He has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kendall Kelly, who earned four points and 13 rebounds.

Lucerne Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norton Science & Language Academy only pulled down nine.

Norton Science & Language Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erick Guzman, who put up ten points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Alba, who had seven points and three steals.

Lucerne Valley's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

Lucerne Valley has already played their next contest, a 47-42 win against Hesperia Christian on the 19th. As for Norton Science & Language Academy, they will take on Monrovia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
