Softball Recap: Gilroy Wins Going Away Against Ann Sobrato

While Gilroy put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Ann Sobrato. Gilroy was the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Ann Sobrato. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Ariela Yslava made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dani Wilson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Jennie Hernandez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Gilroy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive games.

Gilroy pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ann Sobrato, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3.
