Baseball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Triumphs

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Faith Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past New Bern Christian Academy 7-6. The Conquerors haven't had any issues with New Bern Christian Academy recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Ben Reese made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 7.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Jessie Carrillo was incredible, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Faith Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Andrew Kelly was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

Faith Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for New Bern Christian Academy, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

As of now, neither Faith Christian Academy nor New Bern Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
