Basketball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Service Cougars

The Basic Wolves and the Service Cougars will round out the year against one another at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Basic turned things around against Churchill County on Saturday. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over the Greenwave. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wolves' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Greenwave are ranked 17th).

Basic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremiah Combs led the charge by shooting 48% from the field on his way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Combs' afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Hudson Yakubik, who posted ten points along with six steals and five assists.

Meanwhile, Service was able to grind out a solid victory over Rancho on Saturday, taking the game 74-63.

Basic's win bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Service, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
