Softball Recap: River Forest Ingots vs. Wheeler Bearcats
River Forest extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They lost 17-2 to the Wheeler Bearcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on Monday.
As for Wheeler, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
For Wheeler's part, the team relied heavily on Ashlynne Trinidad, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Trinidad a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Allen, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Forest will face off against Calumet New Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wheeler, they will square off against South Central at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Satellites' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Bearcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
