            Softball Recap: McCutcheon Mavericks vs. Cathedral Fighting Irish        
        
		
        
        
            McCutcheon had lost six straight at home, but  on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 9-11 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Cathedral Fighting Irish by a score of  3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Mavericks have lost by  just one  run.
 Kaidynn Peckinpaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three  runs (all of which were unearned)  on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.
 At the plate, McCutcheon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Molly Davis, who  went 2-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  RBI. Another  was  Mallorie Beutel, who  got on base  in two of her three plate appearances with one  stolen base and one  run.
As for Cathedral, the  win keeps they at an undefeated 21-0. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.6 runs this season.
 On Cathedral's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Sidney Feczko gave up  just two earned runs on five hits.
 McCutcheon has already played their next game,  a  15-0  win against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 15th. As for Cathedral, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  contest,  a  16-2  victory against Ben Davis on the 15th.
