Basketball Recap: Armwood Hawks vs. Manatee Hurricanes
Armwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-64 heartbreaker at the hands of the Manatee Hurricanes.
Despite the loss, Armwood still got an impressive performance from Jayden Dryden, who went 9 for 11 on his way to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Mckinnie, who posted seven points in addition to eight assists and six boards.
Manatee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keith Fields, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Fields is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played. Detmer Steffensen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards.
Armwood's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Manatee, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Armwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 79-61 victory against Dunbar on the 30th. As for Manatee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-56 win against Riverview Sarasota on the 30th.
