Baseball Recap: Ashe County Comes Up Short

Ashe County was the 13-5 winner over Starmount when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Huskies took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams on Friday.

Mark McNeill put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles.

McNeill wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Wagoner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. Adam Wagoner was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Ashe County now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Starmount, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-9 record.

As of now, neither Ashe County nor the Rams have any future games scheduled.
